Tennessee Biker Dies In Motorcycle Accident on I-40

Posted on Apr 14, 2009

A 50-year-old Farragut biker died at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville Sunday from what officers are calling a hit-and-run on Interstate 40. Saturday night, about 11:25 PM, Silas Adams struck the rear of a tractor-trailer while he was attempting to change lanes, causing him to be thrown from his 2006 Harley Davidson. He was then hit by oncoming traffic.

Police noted the driver of the rig, which never stopped, probably didn’t feel the slight impact of the motorcycle. But they are calling it a hit-and-run because none of the cars stopped to see what they had run over.

Adams was said to have been speeding and driving erratically before the accident. He was still alive when an ambulance took him to the hospital, but he died the next day. The investigation of the accident continues.

Slow down, stay steady and keep your distance from tractor-trailers.
