Tennessee Bicycle Accident Injures Boy

A pickup truck struck an 8-year-old boy riding his bicycle in East Knoxville, according to authorities.  The boy was critically injured in the tragic Tennessee bicycle accident.

The bicycle accident occurred at approximately 6:20 PM in close proximity to the intersection of Fern Street and Ashland Avenue, said Knoxville Police Department Sgt. Jason Hill.

Apparently, the boy rode his bike into the street and was struck by the pickup truck, said Hill.

The child was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center where he was reported as being in critical condition.  The boy’s name wasn’t released to the public.

According to Hill, “at this point, it doesn’t look like the truck driver was reckless.”

Investigators from the Kentucky Police Department are reconstructing the accident.
