Are their rules for communicating with the doctor?

A: Yes, we think there are. First of all, many workers’ compensation doctors expect patients to exaggerate their symptoms, their limitations, and their ability to go back to work. Do not make the mistake of complaining too much, groaning, or acting worse than you feel. Second, don’t give the doctor general complaints or say “fine” when he/she asks how you are doing. Give the doctor specifics of what kind of pain your have, when it occurs, and how long it lasts, but don’t go on and on. Get to the point quickly.  Third, make sure the doctor knows you want to get better and back to work as soon as possible.
